Everton news: ‘Lampard is mistaken’ as he’s set to blow ‘last hope’ of staying in the Premier League -Kenny

Frank Lampard is mistaken if he thinks Everton will win their “all-important” games in hand.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ relegation chances.

Everton lost 5-0 to Tottenham on Monday (7 March) leaving the club one point and one place ahead of 18th-placed Burnley.

However, Frank Lampard’s side have a game in hand on the Clarets as well as three games in hand on Leeds and Brentford, the two sides directly above them in the table.

Kenny insists these games in hand mean nothing considering Everton have only won one of their last 10 league games.

“I said this about Tottenham because they were in the same position, you have to win those games,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s all well and good having these all-important three or four games in hand or whatever, but you have to win them.

“Everton have been so bad, there is no guarantee they will win those games. It feels like those games are their last hope if that makes sense.

“They don’t look like winning at all and they have tough games. Lampard is mistaken if he thinks he’s sorted because of those games.

“They also have to play those games over a short space of time and they don’t have the squad for it.

“I would rather have the points in the bag, to be honest.”
