Everton news: Lampard needs a ‘miracle’ amid ‘massive’ claim before Wolves – expert
Alex McLeish has insisted the Everton squad will be suffering from “massive confidence issues” heading into Sunday’s game against Wolves.
The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Frank Lampard’s men would be “dreading” taking to the pitch after the 5-0 defeat to Tottenham on Monday.
As quoted by the Daily Mail (7 March), Frank Lampard questioned the “attitude” of some of his players after the loss in north London.
He insisted the “reaction” of his squad was “not good enough”.
However, McLeish warned Lampard needs a “miracle” to get the dressing room full of confidence again.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “There will be massive confidence issues. That’s understandable. The players will be dreading stepping out onto the field again.
“That’s the way it kinda affects you when you get a drubbing such as that one against Spurs. I think one of the things that Frank would have done would be out working with them the whole week.
“You have to go into training with your mind fully concentrated. Make sure you’re adhering to what the coaches are saying, all the coaches.
“Just try to get a wee spark in training during midweek and feeling much better about the next challenge.
“Whether we see an Everton revival this week, I would think it would be almost a miracle if we do after that doing they took.
“Maybe they can think in a way of: ‘That can’t happen to us again.’ But it can unless they defend as a team and attack as a team.”

Everton currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, albeit with games in hand over their relegation rivals.
They face Wolves and Newcastle at home in their next two games.
