Everton news: Pundit issues ‘big’ Dele Alli prediction after Finch Farm footage emerges
Paul Robinson has tipped new Everton manager Frank Lampard to get Dele Alli “back to his best”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and England goalkeeper claimed Lampard’s man-management skills will help the 25-year-old rediscover his form.
On Tuesday (1 February), the Toffees confirmed the arrival of Alli on a two-and-a-half year contract.
According to the BBC (1 February), the two clubs agreed a deal which could rise to £40million, with the first £10m payable after 20 appearances.
As captured by club media (2 February), Lampard and Alli looked elated when meeting each other at Finch Farm.
Robinson heaped praise on his ex-England teammate, Lampard.
“I think Frank is going to get him back to his best,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“Frank is of an age where he can relate to the players. He is so fresh out of the game, he relates to the modern day player. A lot of managers are detached from the players but not Frank.
“I think it is a really smart appointment. I think Frank will prove himself there and his relationship with Dele could be a big part of that. It is a really clever signing in my opinion.
“The way the deal is structured, I don’t think Everton are overpaying. It’s a good deal for all parties involved.
“Everybody forgets that Dele Alli is still only 25. He has got another six or so years at the top of his game. I think Frank will nurture him.”
In other news, a medical expert has claimed Abdoulaye Doucoure could be out 50 per cent longer than Everton are letting on.
