Everton news: Pundit predicts Lampard to pull off ‘mega transfers’

Everton will pull off more “mega transfers” if Frank Lampard stays at the club on a long-term basis.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Lampard’s first moves as Toffees boss.

Alli, 25, joined Everton on deadline day after falling out of favour at Tottenham.

Donny van de Beek also joined the club on loan from Manchester United after struggling for game time.

Kenny insists we will see more of these transfers at Everton if Lampard stays at the club long-term.

“It’s the Lampard pulling power,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s just like Gerrard at Aston Villa and him sign Coutinho. Players like Lampard had such amazing careers and they have that pull.

“He’s a brilliant appointment and I would be surprised if Alli had gone to Everton without Lampard.

“With Van de Beek I’m not sure, there were talks last summer so maybe he was more interested in the club as a whole.

“Alli must have had loads of offers but Everton have the money to pay whatever Spurs want over the next few years and their manager was one of the best midfielders we have ever seen.

“I think we will see more mega transfers like that if Lampard stays at Everton.”

Alli made 269 appearances during his seven years at Tottenham.

Van de Beek has only made 50 appearances for the Red Devils since leaving Ajax in 2020.
