Everton news: Richarlison and ‘overrated’ teammate lambasted by unimpressed Agbonlahor

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison need to start banging the goals in for Everton if they want to play in the Champions League.

That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England attacker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Everton’s misfiring forwards.

Neither have scored a Premier League goal under Frank Lampard and that continued in the 2-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday (20 February).

Richarlison told Brazilian outlet TNT, via Tribal Football, on Sunday (20 February) that Carlo Ancelotti would have taken the club to the Champions League.

Calvert-Lewin told club media yesterday (21 February) he wants to get to the “top-level” after returning from injury.

“I’m worried about players like Richarlison,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“He’s come out with comments saying he wants to play Champions League football with Everton, how about you get to double figures in goals? How about you start scoring goals before you even dream of playing in the Champions League.

“Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin, where are the goals? Southampton is a tough game but one where they should get on the scoresheet but they didn’t look like scoring.

“Lampard has got a tough job because a lot of the players there are overrated.

“It can take a while for Calvert-Lewin after his injury but if you want to replace Harry Kane in the team for England, you’re a million miles away.

“Arsenal have been looking at Calvert-Lewin but they will be thinking twice with his form at the moment.

Newcastle

“He relies a lot on service, if the cross is right he will score but he’s not one that will run in behind and score, we’ve not seen that.

“Can you create a goal from nothing?”
