Everton news: Richarlison should be banned as controversial footage from Liverpool emerges – pundit
Alan Hutton has insisted Richarlison was lucky not to be sent off for kicking out at Jordan Henderson in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Everton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland defender blasted the “petulant” 24-year-old and admitted he was surprised VAR did not get involved.
As can be seen in footage relayed on social media, Richarlison kicked out at Henderson after being fouled in the dying minutes of Sunday’s game.
The Brazilian was booked for the incident – his eighth yellow card of the season.
However, Hutton insisted Richarlison was lucky not to see red after losing his cool.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think when you do this, you raise your hand or you have a kick out, you’re always at risk of getting sent off.
“You can’t do that in today’s game. With VAR, there’s an opportunity for them to go back and look at things.
“So yes, he is lucky. As petulant as it is, you can’t act like that or you will be off.”
Richarlison played the full game as Everton lost 2-0 at Anfield.
He has scored seven goals and contributed four assists in 27 Premier League appearances this season.
The defeat means the Toffees currently sit in the relegation zone, albeit with a game in hand over 17th-placed Burnley.

They know they will go ahead of the Clarets by a point if they do win their extra game.
They face Chelsea at home in their next game.
