Everton now risk losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin for nothing – sources
Everton risk losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin for free in 2025 after a halt in his contract talks, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 June) that discussions over extending the 27-year-old’s deal have taken place – but it is believed the striker’s future is up in the air due to the takeover situation at Goodison Park.
Cash-strapped Everton continue to struggle in the transfer market with 777 Partners failing to complete a takeover of the club in recent days.
Calvert-Lewin’s current contract is set to expire in 12 months and as such, he can discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January 2025.
According to The Telegraph (23 May), Newcastle are plotting a move for the England international in this summer transfer window.
Calvert-Lewin could attract big interest in 2025 after Everton talks stall
But it is believed the striker could bring even more interested clubs to the table by running his contract down into next year and becoming available as a free agent.
Calvert-Lewin was Everton’s top scorer in the 2023-24 campaign with eight goals.
He made 38 appearances in a relatively injury-free season after struggling to maintain full fitness in recent years.

The uncertainty over Everton’s future ownership has meant new signings and big contract renewals are largely on pause until a solution is found.
Toffees boss Sean Dyche also has strikers Beto, Neal Maupay and Chermiti in his attacking arsenal ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
