Kieran Maguire: Farhad Moshiri taking advice from ‘idiots’ amid ‘critical’ Everton source reveal

Farhad Moshiri should know better than to bow to social media pressure when it comes to hiring and firing Everton managers.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the British-Iranian billionaire’s heavily-criticised stewardship of the Toffees.

A source told Football Insider after Everton’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham last Saturday (21 January), which leaves them 19th in the table and without a win in 14, that Frank Lampard is set to be sacked.

The next manager will be the seventh of the Moshiri era, which began in February 2016.

Speaking to talkSPORT earlier this month (12 January), the 67-year-old appeared to blame supporters for the managerial churn in recent years, saying most decisions had been “driven by the fans.”

But Maguire insists that Moshri should be strong and not as easily swayed by the court of public opinion.

“There were quite a few Arsenal fans calling for the head of Mikel Arteta not so long ago,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Moshiri is just passing the buck here. I think it’s as simple as that. These are critical decisions.

As an owner, you have a responsilibity for decision-making. To just say people have been shouting about it on social media, which is an idiots’ convention, is not enough.

It woudln’t happen in any other indsutry. You wouldn’t get patients calling for who should be the CEO of a hospital, for example. It makes no sense.

“I think this indicative of a much broader malaise behind the scenes at the club.”
