Everton star Jordan Pickford told to join new club after source’s reveal today
Frank McAvennie has told Tottenham to U-turn on their interest in Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted current shot stopper Hugo Lloris is a better option than Pickford and the Goodison star must join a new club where he will be the undisputed first choice.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Pickford is one of the options being considered by the club to replace Lloris.
The 2022-23 season could be Lloris’ last as number one and they are keen to find a long-term replacement.
Pickford has just over 18 months left on his contract at Goodison Park but after an impressive World Cup he could be looking at a move in the new year.
Lloris captained France to the World Cup final where they were ultimately beaten by Argentina on penalties.
But the 35-year-old could be facing the axe at Spurs next season before his contract expires in 2024.
McAvennie insisted Pickford is not better than the current Tottenham number one.
“I would take Lloris over Pickford,” he told Football Insider.
“I think he is a good keeper. He will not want to give up the number one spot.

“Whether Pickford would want to go there and challenge him. Pickford has got to pick a new club and one where he is going to be number one. He’s certainly good enough and has shown he can perform in huge games.
“I do not think Pickford would want to go and be a bit-part player. Lloris has done too much wrong to get dropped.“
