Everton news: Expert salutes ‘excellent cost-saving’ plan as financial crisis imminent

It would be an “excellent” idea for Everton to provide warm spaces for their most vulnerable fans during the energy crisis.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.

The UK is currently experiencing skyrocketing energy bills, leading to fears that many households will not be able to adequately heat their homes in the winter months.

Many commentators and analysts feat that this could spark a public health emergency.

The Daily Mail reported last Friday (9 September) that several Premier League clubs have held talks about opening their doors on non-matchdays to provide a warm space for supporters.

The Toffees refer to themselves as the “people’s club”.

Dinnery insists that it is the right thing to do to channel this spirit more than ever during the energy crisis.

“It’s a good thing to do, absolutely,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Football is quite often seen as disconnected. If we look at the level of transfer spending, people think the game is totally separate from reality.

This is a way of maintaining the link with the local community. Ultiamtely, without them, there isn’t a club.

This is excellent, both from a cost-saving perspective but also for bringing the community together, especially the old and the vulnerable.

The benefits to this are multi-layered, it’s not just about going somewher warm and saving costs. It’s easy to lose sight of where you are as a club.
