Everton player ratings v West Ham: Senior player 5/10 as Allardyce watches on
Wayne Rooney – 10
Cometh the hour, cometh Wayne Rooney.
Everton need senior figures to step up and seize the initiative to get themselves out of the rut they’re in and Rooney is the man who needs to be that kind of person.
He was lucky to score the opening goal when Joe Hart saved his initial penalty kick when the ball fell to him to head into an empty net, but his second strike was anything by lucky as his fire and passion was evident.
Then something quite amazing happened with a goal that will no doubt go down in Premier League history as he rifled the ball into the back of the net – from his own half.
More performances like this from the ex-Manchester United and Everton will start charging back up the Premier League table.
