David Unsworth’s backline selection came in for some criticism before the game, but against West Ham’s limp attack, they were always going to have a fairly comfortable night.
Holgate did a thoroughly professional job beyond his years alongside Ashley Williams in the defence and will probably keep Michael Keane out of the side from now on after his dismal start to life on Merseyside.
However like Kenny, Allardyce won’t be taking risks and will try to get the best out of the underperforming senior stars.
