Everton plot cut-price Gabriel Jesus transfer as hurdle must be overcome to strike Arsenal deal

Everton are keen to sign Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus this summer but are not prepared to meet his current £20million asking price, sources have told Football Insider

The Toffees are mindful of the injury problems that the 29-year-old has endured in recent years, and as a result, will only look to do business for him on a cut-price deal.

Arsenal are looking to offload the Brazilian, and sources say that the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and Palmeiras are all lurking to try and win the race for his services this summer.

The Merseysiders are also in the race for the former Manchester City man, but must find a way to overcome the “issue” of Jesus’ wages, as he currently commands a “big deal” at the Emirates Stadium.

Everton have a new striker towards the top of their list of transfer priorities, but several cards will need to fall into place if they are to get a deal for Jesus over the line.

Everton ready to act on long-term Gabriel Jesus interest

Everton are in the market for a new striker this summer, with David Moyes growing frustrated at the lack of consistency from both Beto and Thierno Barry.

He and the recruitment team are looking for someone with proven experience of providing a threat to Premier League defences, and Jesus has been a player who they have targeted for a prolonged period.

The frontman was linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium last summer and then again in January, but Arsenal were unwilling to offload him on those occasions.

The picture has now altered drastically in North London ahead of this summer’s window, but Everton have the financial hurdle to overcome if they are to act on their interest.

They will seemingly need Jesus to be willing to take a significant cut from his current contract in order to make the move happen, a decision which may hinge on whether he has any desire to continue playing in the Premier League.

The star has plenty of other options available to him if he is keen to pursue a new challenge away from England, and that also doesn’t work in Everton’s favour in the coming months.

West Ham ready to consider ‘big-money offer’ for Toffees target

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that West Ham will “consider” a “big-money offer” for Everton target Taty Castellanos after their relegation from the Premier League.

The Argentine is looking for a way out of the London Stadium ahead of next season, and Moyes and Co. already have him on their list as another potential striker option to target.

West Ham are reluctant to lose the 27-year-old, but could be forced into considering any offers that are close to matching the £25m that they paid to sign him back in January.

Everton’s interest in Castellanos stretches back to his time at Lazio before moving to East London, and they may finally be about to get their man through the door in the coming months.
