Kieran Maguire: Everton primed for ‘beauty parade’ as £10m deal agreed
Everton have chosen to extend their kit deal with Hummel by just one year as they hope to set up a “beauty parade” of potential new partners ahead of their move to Bramley-Moore Dock.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ new agreement with the Danish sportswear manufacturer.
The 2022-23 campaign is Everton’s third with Hummel, whose original agreement was due to run until the end of the current season.
But the Merseysiders confirmed on Tuesday (4 October) that they had signed a one-year extension that will see the partnership continue until the summer of 2024.
The deal is worth £9.5million, per Sport Business shortly after the announcement.
The club are due to move into their new 52,888-seater stadium ahead of the 2024-25 season, just weeks after the Hummel contract lapses.
Maguire suggests that Everton will want to capitalise on the extra attention and explore different kit deals ahead of the historic relocation.
“I suspect that there is a link between the length of the contract and the opening of the new Bramley Moore Dock stadium,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“Everton will want to be in a position to have a beauty parade of prospective kit manufacturers for the opening of the new stadium.

“Therefore, they won’t want to overcommit themselves to any one party for a long period of time.
“Historically, they have had very good links with Hummel and some very iconic kits as well.“
