Everton rising star compared to Jacob Ramsey from pundit post-Leeds
Anthony Gordon “is the future of Everton football club”, according to Noel Whelan.
The ex-Premier League striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, likened the 20-year-old to Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe after Saturday’s game against Leeds United.
Gordon starred for the Toffees on Saturday as they beat Leeds to ease their relegation fears.

The winger has started all three fixtures since Everton appointed Frank Lampard on 31 January.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (11 February), Lampard revealed he’s “been really impressed” by the “top young player”.
When asked for his thoughts on Gordon’s form, Whelan told Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge: “He’s the future of Everton football club.
“You get hunger, desire and bravery on the ball from these young players who have come through the academy system. He plays with a freedom which is great to watch.
“It’s very similar to [Jacob] Ramsey at Villa and [Joe] Gelhardt at Leeds. They play with no fear and are desperate to keep their place in the team.
“We saw a similar situation at Arsenal a season or two ago with Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe. Those two have been shining lights. They are the two standout performers even though they are the youngest on the field.
“I think we’re seeing that again at Everton. The senior players need to feed off that energy.”

Gordon has contributed three goals and three assists in 22 appearances this season.
His contract at Goodison Park runs until the summer of 2025.
