Everton set sights on signing ‘top’ striker – sources

Everton manager Sean Dyche wants to sign another “top” striker this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the manager is hoping for financial backing.

And given the problems going forward this season, Dyche would love to sign a new striker in the upcoming transfer window.

O’Rourke explained that a fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin would, however, undoubtedly ease the issues in the final third.

Everton identity key area to improve this summer

He told Football Insider that the 27-year-old is back to his best, proving that he can be a top-level striker following his goal and the way he led the line against Liverpool on Wednesday (24 April).

The striker scored as Everton defeated their city rivals 2-0 at Goodison Park, with Calvert-Lewin now on seven goals in all competitions in another injury-hit season.

Dyche has attempted to strengthen his attack in recent times, bringing strikers Beto and Youssef Chermiti to the club last summer.

The Toffees have now beaten the drop once more with recent results, with the Merseyside club securing their safety with a 1-0 win over Brentford on Saturday (27 April).

Dyche’s men are now on a three-game winning run, with the Toffees finishing their season with matches against Luton Town, Sheffield United and Arsenal.
