Kieran Maguire: This may be real reason £20m Everton deal has collapsed
Cazoo may have chosen to abandon their sponsorship deal with Everton because of concerns about their league position.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ troubles in the commercial department.
Everton embarked on a two-year front-of-shirt deal with Cazoo, which the Daily Mail reported to be worth £20million in total, in June 2020.

In a statement to The Athletic last Friday (4 March), Cazoo confirmed that they had failed to agree suitable terms over a renewal.
The partnership will now end the close of the season.
The London-based online car retailer also sponsors Aston Villa, and they have revealed that particular deal is set to continue.
Maguire suggested why Cazoo’s sponsorship with Villa has continued while the Everton deal collapsed.
“Cazoo have two Premer League sponsorships at present,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“It looks as if they are going to carry on with Villa. It could be that Cazoo’s overall marketing budget didn’t warrant two clubs.
“It’s not necessarily a negative for Everton. Cazoo have just made their choice.
“Villa have got a high-profile manager in Steven Gerrard, whereas we have seen a succession of managers at Everton.
“There will also be a concern at Everton’s league position. They aren’t where any of the parties want them to be.”

Everton will also have to replace the approximately £30m of annual sponsorship income provided by Alisher Usmanov.
The Russian billionaire is no longer able to finance the club because of sanctions from the UK Government.
