Kieran Maguire: Everton have struck new £100m agreement amid ‘perfect’ claim
It looks as though Everton have rolled over a £100million loan from a private lender in a move that suits all parties.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest from behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
A Companies House submission filed last Tuesday (30 August) shows that the Toffees have registered a new charge with Rights and Media.
No specific financial information was included, but Maguire suggested via Twitter last Friday (2 September) that it could be the £100m loan that was made public in their 2020-21 accounts.
The spreadsheet wiz explained why the Merseysiders might choose to renew the loan with Rights and Media.
“It looks as if Everton have rolled over their loan with Rights and Media,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“It means that Everton don’t have to A) repay the money or B) repay the loan to someone else.
“If Rights and Media have made the appropriate interest payments on an annual or half annual basis, then they will be perfectly happy to continue that relationship.
“It makes far more sense if you’re a lender to continue an existing relationship than to try and strike up a new relationship with somebody with whom you’re not as familiar.”

Everton have lost £370m in the last three recorded financial years.
Their situation was worsened by the enforced cancellation of Vladimir Putin-linked Alisher Usmanov’s various sponsorship deals with the club.
