Kieran Maguire: Everton takeover could be complete by this date after source’s reveal

The consortium seeking to take over Everton could indeed push through a deal by 21 July.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the ongoing saga surrounding the future ownership of the Toffees.

An Everton source told this site on Monday (27 June) that talks between a Peter Kenyon-led consortium and the Farhad Moshiri regime have reached an advanced stage.

The Telegraph reported on Wednesday (29 June) that the group are aiming to complete a deal by 21 July.

That date coincides with the Merseysiders’ friendly against Minnesota United in Minneapolis, the home town of Maciek Kaminski, the consortium’s chief financier.

Maguire claims that, while a definitive breakthrough in negotiations is far from certain, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that a deal could be struck by 21 July.

“I think it’s possible rather than probable,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Several factors make the deal easier than the Chelsea takeover because there doesn’t have to be Government oversight.

“Both parties can negotiate freely. The fact they have already reached heads of terms proves some progress has been made. Now, it’s a case of whether a formal offer is made that is acceptable.

“Kaminsiki’s group will have had access to that data room. They need to identify the assets and the obligations that they are going to inherit. You often offer indemnities for anything that can be bottomed out and sorted post-deal.

“I think it’s feasible that it gets done by the deadline.”
