Everton takeover: Keith Wyness reveals 777 update as fans fume
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Farhad Moshiri has not formally abandoned the 777 Partners deal as it would trigger their debt repayment.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the controversial Toffees owner is “doing what he can” to secure a takeover.
Moshiri has confirmed to the Everton Fan Advisory Board that he has received further approaches for the club as 777’s deal continues to stall.
However, the share purchase agreement in place with the US-based investment group means he cannot explore alternative deals until 31 May – which is the current deadline for the takeover to go through.
777 have invested around £200million into the club through loans during the takeover process, which may become repayable if they cannot complete a deal.
Everton fans upset with Moshiri after 777 Partners latest
Wyness suggested “things are coming to a head” with a possible resolution coming soon.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “There’s a dissatisfaction within the fans that 777 are still involved, and that Moshiri hasn’t disavowed them.
“However, I tend to believe that he can’t – because that may trigger a repayment of their debt.
“I believe he’s talking to other groups, and has appointed a third party to do that.
“He’s doing what he can.
“The fans in general felt big relief when the relegation situation was resolved.
“But there are still some very serious issues in terms of the business structure behind the scenes.

“There is the other PSR charge hanging over us as well, which relates to interest payments on the stadium.
“There’s a lot still to be resolved, but things are coming to a head – in my opinion.”
