Everton takeover: New US bidders make contact with Farhad Moshiri – sources
Farhad Moshiri has received interest from potential new bidders looking to strike a deal for Everton if the 777 Partners takeover falls through, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed multiple American consortiums are likely looking at the Toffees as an “interesting” opportunity to invest in a Premier League club.
777 agreed to acquire Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake in the club for £500million last September, but the deal is no closer to being concluded.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month the takeover will not be completed after the Everton owner has set a make-or-break deadline for the end of May.
O’Rourke admitted the best thing the Iranian businessman can do is move on from 777 as soon as possible and explore some of the other options on the table.
Farhad Moshiri could hold talks with new Everton takeover bidders
There have been a number of negative reports published around 777 and the other clubs it owns since the takeover was agreed at Goodison Park.
The Miami-based group could now lose control of Vasco da Gama after a report revealed a court in Rio de Janeiro ruled in favour of the Brazilian side due to fears of bankruptcy putting the club at risk.
Standard Liege fans also recently protested against 777’s ownership after the club was placed under a transfer embargo due to unpaid wages and failure to complete other payments.
O’Rourke admitted there have been too many red flags surrounding the US company and Moshiri is unlikely to be provided with proof of funds before the deadline at the end of May.

He believes Everton’s new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium is likely to interest potential investors as the state-of-the-art facility could help the club close the revenue gap on other Premier League teams.
But questions remain around the financing of the stadium after 777 has loaned the club more than £200million to pay the day-to-day operational costs and complete the development.
