Kieran Maguire explains Farhad Moshiri’s Everton takeover stance amid new twist

Farhad Moshiri wants “total control” and will refuse to sell any of his shares in Everton.

So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the British-Iranian billionaire’s long-term plans at Goodison.

Per the Daily Mail earlier this month (8 April), the Toffees have attracted interest from American bidders looking at either a full or partial takeover.

But iNews reported on Monday (18 April) that Moshiri is not willing to sell the club or dilute his shareholding in the club in any way.

Moshiri increased his stake in Everton to 94 per cent in January in response to the club’s deepening financial woes.

And Maguire insists that the 66-year-old will not cede any power on Merseyside any time soon.

“I think he is still committed to the project,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“He wants Everton to challenge for trophies and smash the glass ceiling. He therefore wants to be in the prime decision making position.

“Giving away any form of control doesn’t fit in with his ownership style. He has increased stakeholding over the years.

“When you have all the shares, you have total control. He is nearly at that point.”

Everton

Everton have posted combined losses of £373m over the last three years but have so far escaped punishment from the Premier League.

The Toffees are still in a relegation dogfight and their future financial health hinges greatly on whether they can retain their top-flight status.
