Sources: Everton in ‘advanced talks’ to complete takeover after new twist
The Peter Kenyon-led group are now in advanced talks to buy Everton, Football Insider has learned.
The former Manchester United and Chelsea chief executive is fronting a group backed by American businessmen John Thornton and Maciek Kaminski, who is the chief executive of a real estate company.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that discussions have moved on in recent days and have now reached an “advanced” stage.

It is believed the “huge” deal could be completed as early as the end of this week.
The timeframe is unexpected, given the complexity of the deal and the finances involved, with the time taken to agree the considerably more expensive Chelsea takeover indicative of that.
The American consortium are interested in a full buy-out of Everton, at a time when embattled owner Farhad Moshiri has been looking for investors to come into the club.
The Merseysiders are continuing to build a new stadium at Bramley Moore dock, which is thought to cost in the region of £500million.
A full takeover would reportedly cost an additional £500m-plus.
Other groups have also made informal approaches for Everton, but Kenyon’s consortium secured exclusivity for talks and are the best-positioned group after heads of terms were signed.

Kenyon’s group would look to support manager Frank Lampard in the summer transfer market.
Everton’s transfer budget is currently limited and the only deal already in place this summer is James Tarkowski, who, as revealed by Football Insider, has already signed a contract and will join on a free transfer.
