Everton takeover: Wyness has big news from his sources on critical new talks
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness believes that 777 Partners have a scheduled meeting with the Premier League this week to discuss the final steps of the Everton takeover deal.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs on takeovers and governance – suggested that the Premier League have taken “way too long” to come to a final decision.
777 Partners struck a £500million takeover deal to buy Farhad Moshiri’s 94 percent stake at Goodison Park back in September.
However, the Miami-based group are still waiting for approval from the Premier League with concerns about their source of funding delaying the decision.
As revealed by Football Insider, 777 Partners scheduled face-to-face talks with the Premier League with the takeover deal entering its final stages.
Crunch Everton takeover talks taking place imminently
Wyness says he has been told by his own sources the meeting will take place this week between the two parties and hopes that the outcome can provide a final resolution to the deal.
“I believe 777 Partners are meeting with the Premier League this week to discuss the takeover,” Wyness told Football Insider.
“Let’s hope that can be the final resolution to get things moving.
“It does seem the Premier League have been taking way too long on something like this.
“I do feel a bit of sympathy for 777 in this because they’ve carried on acting in an honourable and reasonable way.
“If there are issues about them – and there’s been a lot of noise – then fair enough.
“But let’s get a decision and let’s find out where we are.“
