Everton to accept ‘£45m’ Amadou Onana offer after source’s reveal – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Everton are unlikely to receive their asking price of around £65million for Amadou Onana.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Toffees would settle for a fee of around £45million – which would allow them to improve their squad.

Sources told this site on 15 April that Everton are confident of making a £30million profit on Onana this summer as they expect him to depart the club.

The Belgium international, who joined the Toffees for a reported fee of £33million in 2022, has impressed in his first season in England and is attracting interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Everton, who are under investigation by the Premier League for breaching spending rules, will sell at least one star for big money this summer due to their financial troubles.

Onana has registered one goal and one assist in 30 games for the Merseysiders this season.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I don’t think he’s worth £65million.

“He’s got some good attributes, but that’s a lot of money.

“If Everton got offered £45million, I’m sure they’d take it. If they are offered £65m, they’d bite your hand off.

“That money can then be used across different positions in that side.

“Onana is very good at recovering the ball, he can run with it and break up play – but he doesn’t score goals, and his passing range isn’t outstanding.

“He gets games for Belgium, but I just can’t see him being worth £65m.”
