Kieran Maguire: Everton to seal £4m deal amid news from America

Everton could demand as much as £4million for a one-year sleeve sponsorship arrangement.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Merseysiders’ merits as a commercial partner.

Everton announced a reported £10m-a-year front-of-shirt sponsor deal with cryptocurrency betting platform Stake.com last month (9 June).

But the Toffees are one of the few remaining teams in the Premier League who are yet to reveal their sleeve sponsor for the 2022-23 campaign.

The Liverpool ECHO, however, reported last Saturday (16 July) that they are close to signing off on a sleeve deal with an unnamed US-based company.

Everton were left at a loose end when Kremlin-linked Alisher Usmanov was forced to ditch his commercial tie-ins with the club as a result of the war in Ukraine.

Maguire claims that they could eke back some of the shortfall with one of the most lucrative sleeve sponsor deals outside the so-called ‘Big Six’.

“I think they would like to get £3m or £4m from a one-year deal,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“If it is some form of blockchain or crypto partner, that might be feasible. Everton are able to leverage their long and illustrious time in the Premier League.

“But the previous season’s on-pitch performance was well below par. Partners do want exposure but they want exposure with a winning team.

“The modest activity in the summer would indicate that Everton aren’t necessarily going to take the Premier League by storm.”
