Everton to complete Conor Coady signing as pundit ‘wowed’ by latest

Conor Coady’s possible permanent move to Everton could prove to be an “absolute steal”.

That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about a potentially “terrific” signing for Everton.

Coady, 29, has been a revelation for the Toffees since joining the club on loan from Wolves in the summer.

Everton

The Blues have the best defensive record in the league after conceding just seven goals and the England international has also already captained the club.

On Thursday (6 October), The Athletic reported Everton have the option to sign Coady for just £4.5million next summer.

McLeish can’t believe Everton could sign the defender for such a small fee after his impressive start to life at Goodison Park.

“Wow, that’s a bargain,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“You think of some of the figures that are being batted about by clubs these days, that is an absolute steal.

“Absolute steal, if that’s the agreement that is in place and signed when Coady first joined the club. Wolves can’t renege on that.

“It’s in writing and it’s there so that would be a terrific signing for Everton.”

Everton

Coady has played 317 times across all competitions for Wolves and his contract there does not expire until the summer of 2025.

The Liverpool-born defender is the last remaining player from the side that won the Championship in the 2017-18 season still on the books at Molineux.

In other news, Everton do not expect a big-name loanee to play for them again.
