Everton to sign two more stars after Donny van de Beek agrees move from Man United – pundit

Frank Lampard is the right man to take the reigns at Everton and should be allowed to splash the cash before the transfer window shuts.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider with the ex-Chelsea boss reportedly on the verge of replacing Rafael Benitez.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo on Saturday (29 January), Everton have offered Lampard the post and are in talks over terms of the deal.

The Toffees are reportedly discussing the potential make-up of the backroom staff.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that Van de Beek has agreed to join from United on loan for the rest of the season.

Kenny insists Lampard is the right man for the job and claims he should be allowed to bring two more players in before the window shuts on Monday.

“For me, it’s got to be Lampard,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“But he’s never been in this position before and it’s a difficult situation for him.

“If he gets the job you have to back him, there is time to get two or three players in before the window shuts.

“He has an amazing knowledge of football and Moshiri has to listen to him.

“Lampard is a winner and he knows how to win football matches, that’s key for Everton.

“It’s the right appointment for me and I just hope the owner shows some faith in him and lets him build a team.

“They can’t afford to be in this position against next season.”
