Everton told to appoint Ferguson as image emerges in last 24 hours – pundit
Danny Mills has claimed Everton should appoint Duncan Ferguson as their manager until the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender suggested Ferguson will be able to get the side organised and then a decision can be made in the summer when there is less time to panic.
The Guardian reported yesterday (27 January) Frank Lampard, Vitor Pereira and Ferguson have been invited to a final round of interviews with owner Farhad Moshiri in London.
Twitter user @StuW1989 posted a picture of the 50-year-old heading down to London on the train today (27 January).
“I think it’s a really difficult one,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Frank has the potential to be a good manager but he hasn’t been in this sort of scenario like this before.
“He went into a Derby team that was doing Ok, took them on and took them to the play-offs. He went in at Chelsea, a club he knew very, very well so that was a good situation for him. They couldn’t spend so he did a good job playing the young players and they were in a good place when they took over.
“I would be tempted to stick to big Dunc for the next three or four games. The cup game against Brentford is a little bit of a free hit.
“Then you’ve got Newcastle, Leeds and Southampton. You’ve got to pick up two wins from that.
“Everton just need to go back to basics. No manager is going to come in and work a miracle overnight so you have to go back to basics and do what you’re good at, get organised and play to the player’s strengths.
“Big Dunc knows the squad as well as anybody else and would certainly instil that spirit.

“Project big Dunc is about the next three league games. If you get two wins from that then I’d give him until the end of the season.
“You’d probably be pretty much safe and then you can take your time and there’s no panic.”
