Everton told to enter Anthony Elanga transfer battle amid fresh January update – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Everton to sign Anthony Elanga in January as they prepare for another relegation battle.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 20-year-old is a “Premier League player” but not at the “level” required by Man United.

According to the Daily Mail (27 December), Everton are chasing a January loan move for Elanga – with a number of Premier League sides asking about his situation.

Man United

The report claims the forward is growing frustrated at his lack of opportunities under new Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag.

The Sweden international has started just six times for Man United this season after his three-goal breakthrough campaign in 2021-22.

Everton have scored the third-fewest goals in the top flight this season and sit outside the relegation zone by just one point.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think Elanga is a really good player.

“I just don’t see him as at the right level for Man United.

“They’ve got Garnacho available, they’ve got Sancho who will be coming back – he’s just not quite at that level. But he is a Premier League player.

“Everton is a club where he can go straight into the side and really help them get up the table by showing everyone what he can do with a start week-in, week-out.”

West Ham

Neal Maupay is Everton’s only fit recognised striking option with Dominic Calvert-Lewin again sidelined through injury.

The Toffees face Man City on Saturday (31 December).
