Everton told to forget Boulaye Dia and complete alternative striker deal after latest – pundit

Paul Robinson has told Everton to U-turn on a potential move for Villarreal striker Boulaye Dia.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Frank Lampard’s side need a centre-forward who is ready to make an immediate impact on the Premier League.

The Toffees will be in the market for a striker when the transfer window re-opens.

Everton

Italian outlet Tutto Salernitana reported on 28 November that the Merseyside club are one of four English teams showing an interest in Dia.

The striker, who is currently on loan at Salernitana, impressed at the World Cup with Senegal.

His contract with Villarreal runs until the end of June 2026.

When asked by Football Insider if Dia would be a welcome addition at Goodison Park, Robinson said: “That’s an interesting one.

“I liked what I saw from him at the World Cup. He is a good striker who knows where the back of the net is. He is also the right age.

“But, would his performances in the World Cup suggest he will be a success in the Premier League? I’m not so sure. It would be a slight risk to take him.

“Look, he is good enough but it may take him time. I don’t think Everton have time. They need to sign a striker who is ready to go. Someone who will make an immediate impact. They don’t need a player who will take six months to bed in.

“The need for a striker at Everton is glaring obvious. They cannot rely on [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin and [Neil] Maupay to get them the goal, as good as they are.”
