Everton v Newcastle United: Kenny shares ‘brutal’ prediction after Dominic Calvert-Lewin update today

Everton have no chance of beating Newcastle United if Dominic Calvert-Lewin is unavailable for selection.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid an update from Frank Lampard.

The Everton boss revealed on Wednesday (16 March) Calvert-Lewin, 25, will be assessed ahead of Thursday’s crunch game against Newcastle.

The striker missed last weekend’s clash against Wolves through illness as the Toffees fell to another defeat.

With the club in desperate need of a win against Newcastle, Kenny insists it would be a massive blow if Calvert-Lewin was unavailable.

“This is the last thing Everton needed,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Newcastle are in great form. I know they lost at the weekend but they could have easily won that game against Chelsea.

“Newcastle are one of the teams you don’t want to be playing at the moment and Everton might be doing it without a striker.

“If I’m brutally honest, I think Newcastle will turn Everton over if Calvert-Lewin isn’t playing.

“They are struggling to win with him in the side. They are a team in free fall and I’m really worried about them.

“Calvert-Lewin unsettles defenders and I don’t see how Everton will do that without him there.

“They don’t score a lot of goals and Newcastle have a solid defence now. I fear for them.”

The Blues remain out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

However, they have three games in hand on 18th-placed Watford.
