Alan Myers reveals what Brennan Johnson to Everton means for Jack Grealish signing

Brennan Johnson appears all set to join Everton, as Dwight McNeil goes the other way to Crystal Palace in a surprise swap deal.

After rumours of a potential deal for the Welshman, interest has seriously ramped up, with the medicals of both players taking place on Monday, 10 August.

It will be just the third addition of a new face to David Moyes' team this summer, joining Hayden Hackney and Christian Norgaard through the doors.

Understandably, supporters on Merseyside are split on the deal for a winger who has just one goal contribution since joining Palace.

And now, due to his ability on either flank, some are beginning to worry that it would hinder another move for Manchester City's Jack Grealish.

The 30-year-old loved his time at the Hill Dickinson Stadium before suffering a season-ending injury, with all the talk being about a potential return ahead of 2026-27.

Enzo Maresca was believed to still be considering keeping Grealish for the campaign ahead, but all signs point towards an exit this summer.

Unsurprisingly, the Toffees appear to be leading the race for his signature, and it is not believed that signing Johnson will cause any problems.

That's according to reliable source Alan Myers, at least, who was quizzed on social media about what the arrival meant for the signing of Grealish.

When asked if the move "casts doubt" over the deal, Myers simply replied, "Not necessarily," before moving on to discuss other topics.

He was also asked about the Premier League side signing Barcelona's Hector Fort, a 20-year-old wing-back, but he's "not heard anything" about that.

Who else could leave Everton this summer?

Outgoings seem far more likely than incomings after this Johnson deal is completed, and that's with McNeil going to Selhurst Park as part of it.

Beto continues to be linked with Nottingham Forest, while Tyler Dibling has been a complete enigma since his big-money move from Southampton.

Of course, Iliman Ndiaye's future is likely to be a talking point until the window closes, but the rest of the squad seem very relaxed on Merseyside.

Moyes may need another goalkeeper to push Jordan Pickford to be his dazzling best, but other than that, there might not be a lot of movement left for the Toffees.
