David Moyes will 'outlast TFG' at Everton after bust-up

David Moyes has been backed to outlast The Friedkin Group at Everton amid continued disgareements between them.

Despite what has been a strong start to the new season, speculation persists about the manager's long-term future at the club amid ongoing tension behind the scenes.

TFG criticised Moyes during the summer, insiting it was a "failure" not to have qualified for Europe, while the boss confessed he has never even spoken to Dan Friedkin.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the job Moyes has done at Everton deserves praise amid speculation about the owners potentially selling up.

With the Toffees sat seventh in the Premier League, unbeaten after five games so far, and through into the Carabao Cup fourth round, the boss is under no pressure.

Moyes is being made to work with a small squad and with major weaknesses in key positions after a slow summer window, but is doing a fantastic job despite his lack of support.

Brown told Football Insider on 21 September that TFG should be "embarrassed" by their treatment of Moyes and should be grateful for what they have got.

This comes against a backdrop of the owners seeking new investment, with the door left open to both a significant stake or full-scale sale of the club in the near future.

With TFG seemingly looking for a way out, Moyes will likely hope to see the back of them given the frosty relationship, and will hope for more support from any future owners.

"Anybody with a brain would make sure David Moyes stays in his position for a long time," Brown told Football Insider.

"He's done an outstanding job at Everton since he took over, and again this year, he's getting results out of a team that has had minimal investment from the top.

"Everything he has achieved at Everton has largely been in spite of the board, and now there's been talk that they're looking to sell.

"So all this cirticism from the board, saying last season was a 'failure', never having spoken to Moyes, all of it has happened just for Moyes to outlast TFG at Everton.

"And that's how it should be, because people who know the game will know how impressive the job he's done has been, and that should be reflected by the club.

"Without Moyes, Everton would be much worse off. Can you say the same thing about these owners? I don't think so."

What would new owners mean for Moyes' future?

With TFG seemingly making efforts to sell Everton, new controlling stakeholders or full-scale owners would be able to make their own decisions about the manager's future.

A lack of support in the current setup has led to growing frustrations behind the scenes, and that could be set to change if TFG are able to sell their stakes.

However, former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson warned Football Insider on 19 September that Moyes could be sacked by any new owners at Everton.

Any new investors would likely want to have their own man in the dugout, and could look elsewhere as they aim to make an immediate influence at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

There have also been suggestions that Moyes could walk away due to his frosty relationship with the current owners, although that is considered unlikely as things stand.
