Liam Delap is on Everton's radar and they are now the bookies' favourites to sign him before the transfer deadline passes next week.

Delap struggled to make his mark at Chelsea last season following a £30million move from Ipswich Town.

He has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer after scoring just three goals in 48 appearances in his debut Blues campaign.

Delap is believed to be keen on staying at Stamford Bridge, but is now part of a group that has been training away from Xabi Alonso's first-team squad in the last week.

Everton continue to hold an interest in his services as the deadline edges closer, and are now believed to be the frontrunners to complete a deal with Chelsea.

David Moyes wants to add another striker to his ranks as the Toffees expect to field serious interest in Beto over the next eight days.

Everton now 2/1 favourites to sign Liam Delap as PL clubs race

Delap was only handed 12 league starts last season, and that tally is unlikely to increase if he stays at Chelsea this summer.

Everton are among a whole host of Premier League clubs thought to be tracking his services, with his strong spell at Ipswich proving that he can impress in the top flight.

Sources exclusively revealed to Football Insider in early August that the Toffees were working on a deal for Delap, and it looks as if he will seal a move away from Chelsea very soon.

One of the UK's biggest bookmakers has slashed the odds on Everton being his next club after the end of the summer window to 2/1, making them the current favourites to agree on a deal.

Which other clubs are keen on signing Delap?

There is set to be plenty of transfer movement regarding Premier League strikers over the next week as clubs scramble to get deals over the line.

Sources have told Football Insider that Delap is open to joining Newcastle as they look to sign a new forward, and they are priced at 8/1 to be his next club.

Nottingham Forest (3/1), Leeds (4/1) and Aston Villa (8/1) have each also been linked to the 23-year-old's signature, so the race is on for Everton to clinch a move ahead of their competitors.
