Why Christian Kofane can end Everton's striker woes as agent spotted at Finch Farm
Christian Kofane could soon be the newest addition to Everton's squad as David Moyes gears up for the 2026-27 campaign.
The striker has only been at Bayer Leverkusen for one season, but with seven goals and six assists in 44 games, he is already attracting attention.
At just 19 years of age, Kofane has already won six caps for Cameroon, and a move to the Premier League appears to be on the cards this summer.
The Toffees are just one of the teams interested in the youngster's signature, but a move doesn't appear far away after his agent was spotted at Finch Farm.
According to journalist DTalkingArsenal, Moyes' side are accelerating a deal after a "very positive" meeting with agent Eric Depolo.
With Kofane increasingly likely to join the Toffees, supporters at the Hill Dickinson will be wondering what he will bring to the squad next season.
Everton need to find the next Romelu Lukaku
Everton haven't had a striker reach 20 Premier League goals since Romelu Lukaku since the 2016-17 season. Beto or Thierno Barry are just not capable of those figures.
In fact, Kofane is everything that those two aren't, in terms of strength, accuracy, passion and tenacity, and ability to keep the ball under pressure.
Not only is he an explosive running in-behind, he also presses aggressively when out of possession, is strong in transition, and knows where to be in the penalty area.
While he has yet to reach double digits in a season just yet, he is incredibly raw, and with the right players around him, there is no reason why he can't solve Everton's long-term striker issues.
Most young centre-forwards are target men or just run in-behind. Kofane does both, and he does both very well. He's already been compared to Victor Boniface, so that should tell fans everything.
Toffees will love who Kofane has named as his idol
Unsurprisingly, Kofane's footballing idol is an African legend, Samuel Eto'o, and Everton fans will be well aware of his ability as a striker.
The former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker made 20 appearances for the Toffees after joining on a free transfer back in 2014.
While it wasn't the best season of his life by a long way, it was incredible to have such a figure at Goodison Park, and he is an inspiration for Everton's latest target.
Speaking earlier this year [AfricaSoccer], Kofane said, "He is an idol, a role model, a legend in Africa. He is the one who made me believe that anything is possible.”
