'Without a shadow of a doubt' - Everton insider backs Amanda Staveley to finalise part-takeover

Amanda Staveley joining Everton as an investor would be the "perfect scenario" after missing out on deals elsewhere.

That is according to former Toffees chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes the ex-Newcastle United figure will be included in the conversation on Merseyside.

In recent seasons, Staveley has failed in bids to join both Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, despite striking a deal with the latter's Gold Family.

However, Daniel Kretinsky becoming the Hammers' majority shareholder has shut the door on the 53-year-old coming aboard at the London Stadium.

Now, speaking to Football Insider, Stefan Borson has suggested that attention could turn to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for Staveley this season.

The idea has been met with a mixed reaction, but one figure who knows the Toffees well has backed the suggestion as The Friedkin Group (TFG) seek new investors.

Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has not ruled out the idea of the businesswoman joining TFG.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness has supported the idea of Staveley coming aboard on Merseyside.

"Absolutely. I think it makes sense for Amanda [Staveley]. She's had two failed with Spurs and with West Ham now," he said.

"And certainly, it seems that Everton would be a perfect scenario. However, you've got to think there, if she were to come in as a minority investor right now, how much control would the Friedkins be prepared to cede to her?

"When PIF came in, Amanda was heavily involved, and we all know she was almost the face of the club along with her husband. And they were getting heavily involved in day-to-day decisions.

"I think Amanda would be there and I think she'll be around at the edges without a shadow of a doubt."

What issues do Everton currently have?

David Moyes' future certainly seems to be a major talking point right now, but Wyness is sure that the Scot is going nowhere.

The club's summer business is the biggest concern, even after the signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles fixed the right-back situation for the time being.

TFG searching for new investors has sparked suggestions that the owners are already looking for the exit door, just 21 months on from their arrival.

They were lauded as heroes after getting rid of Farhad Moshiri, but the fan unrest is mouting up once again at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
