Everton’s priority January signing revealed – sources
Everton will make signing a striker a priority in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Everton fans are hoping Dan Friedkin’s proposed takeover will “free up funds” to strengthen the team.
However, sources tell Football Insider that a lot of what Everton does in the window will depend on where they are in the league table.
If the Merseyside club are in the bottom three then there will be a real call for them to “splash the cash” and try and improve the squad by bringing in a number of signings.
Sean Dyche’s side currently sit 19th in the Premier League table after a winless start to the season.
Everton will look to bolster their attacking options in January
Everton have only scored five goals in their opening five matches, which could lead to the club focusing on trying to sign an attacker in the January transfer window.
The need to sign a striker could be increased by the decision of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is out of contract at Goodison Park next summer.

Calvert-Lewin will be available to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January, should he want to move on.
The England international has played a key role for Everton this season, making five appearances and scoring two goals.
