Every Chelsea game Marc Cucurella will miss as injury timescale emerges

Marc Cucurella is reportedly expected to miss up to a month of action after suffering a hamstring injury in Tuesday’s draw with Leeds United.

The Blues were held 2-2 by the visitors, despite having been two goals to the good after Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer scored.

Cucurella was missing as Chelsea beat Hull City 4-0 on Friday, with Liam Rosenior confirming before the game that the Spaniard is injured.

Now, Cadana SER have reported that he will be on the sidelines for three to four weeks with the hamstring injury.

The left-back has been key for the Blues this season and has emerged among the best left-backs in Europe over the last year.

What Chelsea games Marc Cucurella will miss

It says much about Cucurella’s importance for Chelsea that Rosenior has brought him on when chasing a game.

For some, it may have been a slightly odd sight to see a left-back on at half-time when the Blues were 2-0 down to West Ham last month.

But Chelsea fans roared their approval, and the Spaniard scored the equaliser and was vital to the comeback that saw the home side win 3-2.

It also says a lot that Chelsea lost control of Tuesday’s draw with Leeds after Cucurella was forced off, despite having dominated the first half.

The loss of the 27-year-old will come as a key blow for Rosenior, and especially considering some of the games he is due to miss.

Cucurella will be missing as Chelsea host Burnley next week, and he will not be in the travelling parties that go to Arsenal and Aston Villa in March.

Luckily, the Spaniard is expected to return for matches against Everton and Man City, although he may miss the visit of Newcastle United midway through next month.

What Rosenior said about Cucurella injury

It is the all-round package that Chelsea lose without Cucurella on the pitch. The Spain international is both a ferocious defender and a superb presence in the final third.

The defender himself will be bitterly disappointed to miss out on yet another clash with Bukayo Saka, with the pair always sharing a heated battle.

Speaking after the Leeds draw, Rosenior said: “Unfortunately at half-time he felt his hamstring. It wasn’t a tactical change — it was one that was enforced.

“Cucu is one who has been top, and hopefully he will be okay. We will scan him and make sure we find out if he is available for the next game.”
