Every Tottenham game Lucas Bergvall could now miss after new injury update – there are a lot

Lucas Bergvall’s ankle injury could rule him out of action for Tottenham for the next three months after a new update.

Tottenham are in dire straits right now amid serious doubts around Thomas Frank‘s future in charge following a dismal recent run of form.

Frank’s side did beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday to lift some of the pressure on him, but that was their first victory in six attempts.

Bergvall was named in the starting lineup in North London, with Frank seemingly trusting him more as the season goes on in the middle of the park.

Spurs fans have been impressed by Bergvall’s performances this season, but he is now facing a spell on the sidelines after being forced off early against Dortmund.

Bergvall could be out for three months after suffering ankle injury vs Dortmund

Bergvall had played his part in helping Tottenham go 2-0 up before the break against the German giants, who were also down to 10 men and effectively playing for pride as the game wore on.

He was chopped down cynically by former Liverpool man Emre Can in the 54th minute, but looked to be fit to play on after being treated by Spurs’ medical staff.

The Swede was forced to leave the pitch for treatment three minutes after the tackle, and despite his best efforts to play on, he was substituted just after the hour mark for fellow youngster Junai Byfield.

Frank admitted after the clash that he was unsure of the severity of the issue, but that it was caused by the contact with Can, and a new report from Swedish outlet SVT Sport states that Bergvall is now set to be sidelined for two to three months.

Bergvall could be absent for 14 Tottenham games including key UCL fixtures

Bergvall suffered an injury on international duty in November, which ruled him out of three Spurs games, while he also sat out of their trip to Brentford on New Year’s Day with a groin problem.

He is now set for a much longer spell on the sidelines, which SVT claim will almost definitely rule him out of Sweden’s vital World Cup playoffs in March.
