Ex-Fifa official tells Everton boss Frank Lampard to hold PGMOL meeting as Marouane Fellaini cited

Keith Hackett has told Everton manager Frank Lampard to organise a meeting with the PGMOL to discuss Anthony Gordon.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Fifa and Premier League official believes the Toffees could benefit from presenting clips of Gordon, 21, to a PGMOL official.

In the second half of Everton’s 1-0 loss at Newcastle United, Gordon went over inside the 18-yard box under pressure from Dan Burn.

Referee Tony Harrington waved play on and VAR official Andre Marriner did not deem his colleague to have made a clear and obvious error.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (19 October), Frank Lampard suggested Gordon was not awarded a penalty on reputation.

Lampard “fears” officials “reject” possible penalties when they see the Toffees winger is involved.

Hackett recalled a meeting he held with ex-Blues David Moyes and Marouane Fellaini when discussing Gordon’s reputation.

“My advice to Frank Lampard is this, get the clips of instances where be believes Gordon should have been awarded a penalty or free-kick,” he told Football Insider.

“Then get a member of the PGMOL to come to Finch Farm to discuss the incidents. In that meeting the manager, coach and player should be present. You need to look at each one and discuss why a foul has not been awarded or why the referee was wrong.

“I did that at Everton with David Moyes when I was the boss of the PGMOL. It came after Fellaini got around 10 yellow cards on the bounce.

“I had a meeting with David Moyes, his number two and an interpreter. We looked through all of the cautions. Out of that, the manager learned.”
