Ex-Fifa official: Thomas Tuchel facing double FA charge after new Chelsea twist
Thomas Tuchel will be hit with a double charge as Chelsea drew 2-2 with Tottenham on Sunday (14 August), according to Keith Hackett.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Fifa and Premier League referee claimed Tuchel will be punished for his part in the confrontation with Antonio Conte as well as his comments post-game.
Tuchel and Conte engaged in an extended handshake and were shown red cards after it sparked a mass confrontation.
They had already been booked for similar scenes after Tottenham’s first goal was shrouded in controversy.
Tuchel thought Kai Havertz had been fouled in the build-up by Rodrigo Bentancur and he was similarly unhappy about the second goal.
Harry Kane nodded in from a corner but Cristian Romero appeared to pull Marc Cucurella’s hair in a corner that preceded the goal.
As quoted by the Guardian after the game, Tuchel suggested that Anthony Taylor should not referee his side anymore.
The Athletic reported on Monday (15 August) that his comments are now being investigated by the FA.
“What he has said is probably going to lead to a further charge, in addition to what happened in the technical area,” Hackett told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley
“He must be charged by the FA because he has publicly questioned the integrity of a match official.
“At no stage can he, or anybody instruct the PGMOL. The Premier League can’t instruct the PGMOL to who they appoint to games.
“There were two errors in this game, without question. But overall, I think he managed the game pretty effectively, apart from those two areas.”

Chelsea are next in action on Sunday (21 August) when they travel to Leeds United.
They then host Leicester City the following weekend (27 August).
