Ex-manager makes ‘sensational’ Bowen claim as Liverpool interest hots up
Alex McLeish has insisted David Moyes should take Liverpool’s reported interest in Jarrod Bowen as a compliment at West Ham.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the 24-year-old has been a “sensational signing” for the Irons so far.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo on Thursday (9 December), Liverpool have a long-held interest in Bowen and are continuing to scout him.

However, the Reds are reportedly likely to wait until the summer transfer window before launching a move.
McLeish insisted Bowen deserves recognition as a “tremendous player”.
He suggested West Ham should take any rival interest as a sign of their good work under David Moyes.
“He got loads of credit from me from the very first day I saw him in a West Ham strip,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“I said he is going to be a tremendous player for them. Just his movement, he’s thrilling when he gets the ball, he makes things happen and gets the goals.
“I believe he’s been a sensational signing.
“If you go to a team and you’re winning football matches, someone’s going to spot your players. They’re going to be lauded for their form, picked up in the newspapers.
“That, for me, is music to your ear. It means you’re doing something right and the team are doing well.
“Let’s be philosophical and say if it happens, it happens. That is part of the whole process.
“If Jarrod Bowen is linked to loads of bigger clubs, Moyes is going to be delighted.”

Bowen has scored four goals and contributed six assists in 22 appearances this season.
He has a total of 75 games, 13 goals and 16 assists under his belt for the Irons.
