Ex-Premier League referee issues Aaron Ramsdale injustice claim as controversial Arsenal footage emerges
Arsenal can have no complaints with Aston Villa’s goal in their 2-1 win at the Emirates on Wednesday (31 August), according to Keith Hackett.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Fifa and Premier League referee insisted Boubacar Kamara did not foul Aaron Ramsdale as Douglas Luiz scored directly from a corner for the second time this season.
Kamara was marking Ramsdale and managed to keep him on his line as Luiz whipped in a corner from the left-hand side.
The 24-year-old immediately complained to referee Robert Jones that he had been fouled and the goal should have been disallowed.
He was ignored and the goal was allowed to stand and it levelled the scores at 1-1.
That lasted less than three minutes as Gabriel Martinelli to restore the Gunners’ lead and maintain their perfect start to the season.
“In the modern game, you are not getting these,” Hackett said after analysing the footage with Football Insider correspondent Connor Whtiley.
“Again, it’s six of one, half a dozen of the other. Ramsdale’s wrapped his arms around him and he’s not going to get it.
“What they are doing is actually negating it. Ramsdale’s going for the ball and it is as much his space as it is the players.”

Arsenal face their toughest test of the season on Sunday (4 September) when they travel to Man United who have won their last three games.
As quoted by club media on Friday (2 September), Mikel Arteta revealed Ramsdale is a doubt for the trip to Old Trafford after he picked up a knock against Villa.
