Ex-Tottenham striker now in contention to be next Leicester manager amid Marti Cifuentes sack news
Robbie Keane is in the running to be the next Leicester City manager as Marti Cifuentes faces uncertainty around his future in charge.
Leicester‘s return to the Championship has not gone to plan at all so far, after Cifuentes was hired as the man to get them back to the Premier League ahead of this season.
Football Insider revealed last month that Leicester were seriously considering sacking Cifuentes, but he has remained in charge despite a run of three defeats in their last five games.
Cifuentes is the new favourite to be sacked next in the Championship, following Ryan Mason‘s West Brom dismissal, with 3/1 odds for him to be relieved of his duties before any other boss.
The Foxes could well be on the hunt for a new manager soon if their form does not improve under the Spaniard, with Keane believed to be one of the front-runners to take charge next.

Keane is the bookies’ third favourite to be the next Leicester manager
Keane’s foray into coaching has seen him take charge of Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ferencvaros, following spells as an assistant manager with the Republic of Ireland, Middlesbrough and Leeds United.
The ex-Spurs forward is still in position at Ferencvaros as it stands, after taking over in January 2025, and he led them to a top-flight league title last season, while they currently sit second in the league after 18 games.
Keane has been named in the running to be Wolves’ next manager if Rob Edwards is sacked, but he could soon be on his way to the King Power Stadium if Cifuentes is relieved of his duties.

The latest odds from one of the UK’s leading bookmakers have the Ireland legend as the third-favourite for the Leicester job, priced at 8/1.
Who else is in the running to be Leicester’s next boss?
The Foxes are currently 12th in the second tier after 26 games, having lost nine so far this season, and they face two tough league fixtures next up against Coventry City and Wrexham.
Michael Carrick is the favourite to be Leicester’s next manager if a decision is taken to sack Cifuentes, at odds of 3/1, while former Rangers boss Russell Martin is the second favourite at 5/1.

England under-21s manager Lee Carsley is also believed to be in the running at 10/1, with Kevin Muscat and Stoke City boss Mark Robins also among the apparent leading candidates, at odds of 12/1.
