Exclusive: Andoni Iraola sack update at Bournemouth

Andoni Iraola retains the backing of “everybody” in the Bournemouth hierarchy, sources have told Football Insider.

The Cherries are currently enduring a run of 12 games without a win in the Premier League, but there is no immediate pressure on the Spanish boss in terms of his job.

Iraola is out of contract at Bournemouth next summer, but sources have made it clear to Football Insider that they have no desire to lose their boss at the moment, with Antoine Semenyo set to depart this month.

Iraola’s side have slid down the table after a promising start to the campaign, but there is no panic at the Vitaly Stadium right now, and the board still have confidence that the boss can turn things around.

Bournemouth retain buffer to relegation zone

Former Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that he feels Bournemouth overperformed in the early part of the season.

The South Coast outfit lost just one of their opening nine Premier League games in 2025-26, but now find themselves on a winless run that has dragged on since 26 October.

Iraola’s side have slipped down the table to 15th, but they can take solace from the fact that they still retain a significant buffer between themselves and the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest scored a late winner to down West Ham on Tuesday night, a result which leaves the Irons on 14 points and in serious trouble of going down.

Bournemouth are still nine points clear of the capital club ahead of their own midweek fixture, meaning they still have plenty of breathing room at the moment.

How much will Antoine Semenyo earn at Man City?

Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider earlier this week that Semenyo is likely to earn close to £200k a week at City, as his move edges towards completion.

The winger has a release clause of £65million as part of his current deal at Bournemouth, and City have already triggered that ahead of the move.

Borson feels that Semenyo is likely to receive a basic salary of around £150,000 a week at the Etihad Stadium, with incentives then carrying his weekly earnings up to around the £200k mark.

That would see him earn a yearly sum of around £10m, but that could even grow further in the future if his move is a success.
