Exclusive: Aston Villa respond to £50m Jhon Duran offer

Aston Villa have rejected a bid from West Ham for striker Jhon Duran, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the Irons’ offer for the 21-year-old was worth around £50million.

Duran was a target for West Ham in the summer window and the London club have now re-entered the running for his signature.

Villa have responded by rejecting the Irons’ bid after he signed a new contract with the club in October 2024.

Graham Potter’s side are desperate to add striking reinforcements this month after injuries to Michail Antonio, Jarrad Bowen and now Niclas Fullkrug.

Duran has hit 12 goals in 26 games for Villa this term but questions have persisted over his long-term future at the club.

Ollie Watkins has been the first-choice striker for Unai Emery, with the Colombia international only starting seven games this term.

Duran has sat out of the last three games through suspension after being sent off in the 3-0 defeat against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

West Ham re-ignite interest in Aston Villa’s Duran

He is under contract at Villa Park until June 2030 after penning his new deal just months ago.

The forward joined from Chicago Fire two years ago and has scored 20 goals in 75 appearances for the Midlands giants.
