Exclusive: Aston Villa turn attention to new Nicolas Jackson deal
Aston Villa remain keen on Nicolas Jackson ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Unai Emery is a big fan of the 24-year-old striker and has sanctioned a new move for the Chelsea loanee after Villa came close to signing him last year.
Talks between Chelsea and Villa were held, but an agreement could not be reached, with Jackson eventually securing a loan move to Bayern Munich for this season.
A striker could be needed in the summer, with Football Insider recently revealing that Villa plan to let Ollie Watkins go in the summer.
Jackson has played 22 times for Bayern Munich this season in all competitions and has scored five goals.
Can Nicolas Jackson be a success at Aston Villa?
Jackson may not have scored many goals since his move to the German giants, but this is mainly down to his lack of game time.
So far, his stats in the Bundesliga have been impressive, with it being clear that he still has plenty to offer at the top level.

According to Fotmob on 28 February, he is averaging 0.61 goals, 2.83 shots, 2.22 chances created and 7.69 touches in the opposition box per 90 minutes.
On top of this, he is winning 44.4 per cent of his aerial duels, completing 0.40 interceptions and winning possession 1.21 times in the final third on average per match.
He has also been on form in the Champions League, netting twice in six appearances, as Bayern look to win the competition.
| Nicolas Jackson’s Bundesliga stats this season | Per 90 minutes |
| Goals | 0.61 |
| Shots | 2.83 |
| Chances created | 2.22 |
| Touches in opposition box | 7.69 |
| Aerial duels won | 44.4% |
| Interceptions | 0.40 |
| Possession won in final third | 1.21 |
As a result, all stats point towards Jackson being able to have an impact at Villa Park if the move were to go ahead.
How long is Jackson’s Chelsea contract?
Unfortunately for Aston Villa, Jackson’s contract is not expiring at Chelsea anytime soon.
The striker has a deal at the Blues until 2033 after signing a nine-year contract in September 2024.
Therefore, if Emery is to strike a deal, his contract situation will not make negotiations any easier for the Birmingham outfit.
How much Chelsea will demand for Jackson is unknown, with it becoming clear that Bayern do not plan to exercise the option to buy the striker in the summer.
However, it remains to be seen if Villa make a move for the attacker as they look to reinforce their frontline further in the coming months.
