Fulham could suffer a deadline-day blow with their move for Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo in risk of collapse, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The two clubs have been in talks over a £15million-plus deal for the 20-year-old as the Cottagers look to bolster their defensive options before the window shuts tonight.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that negotiations have stalled over a deal with Fulham pushing for a loan agreement rather than the permanent move that had been previously discussed between the two clubs.

The centre-half spent the second-half of last season on loan at Schalke having struggled to break into the first team at the Nou Camp.

The five-time France Under-20 international only made 10 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit due to a groin injury but managed to catch the eye of both Fulham and Everton in that time.

The Toffees have since pursued other targets and today confirmed the signing of Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey on a five-year contract.

Football Insider revealed last night that the Cottagers have agreed a deal to sign PSV Eindhoven centre-half Timo Baumgartl.

The German defender is expected in London today for talks and a medical ahead of signing a contract at Craven Cottage.

Baumgartl made 22 appearances for the Dutch side last season, including three starts in the Europa League group stages.

Fulham boss Scott Parker is in the hunt for defensive signings after a difficult start to the Premier League season in which his side has conceded 11 goals in four games.

In other Fulham news, it can be REVEALED that the club are set to blow Celtic out of the water to sign 27-yr-old.
