Exclusive: Brentford make Justin Cochrane move as Thomas Frank heads to Tottenham

Brentford have interviewed their coach Justin Cochrane for the manager’s job amid fears he could follow Thomas Frank to Tottenham, sources have told Football Insider.

Frank is set to be appointed by Tottenham and is trying to persuade key Bees ally Cochrane to join him in north London.

Brentford are accelerating their pursuit of the Dane’s replacement this week and have multiple potential options.

As exclusively revealed by Football Insider last week (4 June), Brentford are very keen on Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna.

Cochrane, 43, arrived at the west London club in 2022 to become their head of coaching, and in March joined Thomas Tuchel’s backroom staff at England.

Brentford eye Cochrane to replace Frank

After the news about Ange Postecoglou’s sacking, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Thomas Frank was the frontrunner to become Tottenham manager.

Brentford are set to receive around £10million in compensation for the departing Dane, and are now assessing the possibility of promoting from within.

Cochrane has had a number of coaching roles at youth level, working with various younger age groups at both Tottenham and England.

The 43-year-old also spent a year as Head of player development and coaching at the Manchester United academy, before moving to the Bees.

If Brentford appointed Cochrane as Frank’s replacement, it would be his first senior managerial role.

Birmingham and West Brom interested in Tottenham star

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Birmingham City and West Brom have registered their interest in signing Tottenham sensation Mikey Moore.

The Midlands duo, who will play in next season’s Championship, are keeping close tabs on the 17-year-old forward.

Last season, the winger was handed three starts in the top-flight by Ange Postecoglou, featuring for a total of 1029 minutes in all competitions.
